With an upcoming redesign of WorthPoint, I’ve been knee-deep in the development of a new Wordpress theme, definitely a new venture for me. I haven’t had the opportunity to get my hands dirty and develop anything for quite awhile professionally. While I’m putting the theme together, most of the heavy lifting is being provided by our crack staff in Columbus, OH (thanks Jason). This effort is keeping me busy but its nice to be part of a development team again and not just managing the schedules.

I’ve ignored my RSS feeds for most of the week but slowly catching up this evening. Here’s the ones that caught my eye and another great photo from The Upgraders group at Flickr.

Every Friday I plan to start posting interesting links that would be of interest to beginning to intermediate photographers (and maybe even you more advanced readers might find something you didn’t know too). I’ll also highlight a few of the great photos in The Upgraders group on Flickr (you can see more in the widget on the right).

If you are looking to fulfill that resolution you just made to volunteer more, here is your chance to achieve it while employing your love of photography. OPR is a “Volunteer network of professional photojournalists and amateur digital photographers, graphic designers, image restoration artists and others. OPR’s mission is to repair photographs damaged by unforeseen circumstances such as house fires and natural disasters at no cost to the people who own them.” They’re looking both for volunteers and funds to help support their very worthwhile cause. If you are able to donate time then visit their website for details. If you can donate money then visit their Facebook Cause page.

DPS has published two great collections of links for the new digital photographer. This is a great time of year for these posts as there are many with new Christmas cameras.

My apologies to Scott but as a fan and a child of the 80s myself I cannot let this pass. Scott has graciously, or maybe it was by force, posted a picture of his ’80s disco band, Rumor Hazit in his New Years wishes. Its a must see for any fan of Scott (you know who you are)!
