Post Game Report for Photowalk DC 4 – Tour de Artomatic
Yesterday found members of the Photowalk DC group on Facebook at Artomatic for their 4th photowalk of the year. This was an exercise in how NOT to plan a photowalk. I announced it only 5 days in advance, planned it on a Sunday, planned it on Father’s Day, and to top it off planned the time to coincide with a Washington National’s game which made parking very painful. I have this stubborn practice of driving into DC and not taking metro. Usually it pays off but there was also a triathalon in DC which had my planned route closed so Sherri and I spent at leat 25 minutes just sitting in traffic on Constitution Avenue.
Lesson learned – Next time check for local activities before picking a photowalk location!
Even with the challenges though we had a good time. We had 9 attendees, some of which I had only met online and was good to meet face to face.
If you’ve never attended an Artomatic exhibit you need to at least once in your life. There are a number of talented artists on display but I must say it can be sensory overload. You really have to discipline yourself to concentrate on the display in front of you because there are just so many its hard to take it all in. I had debated trying to put a photo display together for next year but now I’m not so sure I want to add to the chaos.
Artomatic is open until July 5th so you still have time to visit if you haven’t yet or to go again if you have. I guarantee you’ll see something new each visit.
Here’s a few images from our walk and be sure to check our Photowalk DC Flickr group for more:
